SDM Housing Software acquires TMS as Australian community housing market continues to grow.

SDM Housing Software Ltd has acquired the business and software of Tenant Management Services (TMS) making it the leading provider of housing software in New South Wales, Australia.

The acquisition reflects SDM's total commitment to the Australian housing sector and in particular focuses on the development of SDM's strategy to build a strong and broad portfolio of housing applications software and expertise.

SDM was established in the UK in 1975 and has been focusing exclusively on providing software and technical support to the UK social housing sector since 1987. With over 200 current customers, its products are now used by more UK housing associations than any other.

SDM launched in Australia in 2010, and currently has a team of six, which will expand further to manage its growing portfolio of clients. These include Churches of Christ Care Housing in Queensland and Aboriginal Housing in Victoria; together with both Bridge Housing Limited and Hume Community Housing Association in New South Wales.

TMS has operated in New South Wales for the last 17 years and has 55 housing association customers. SDM has recruited the owner Phil Cassidy and acquired the software and the customer base which it will now be supporting going forward.

Clive Harris, Chairman & CEO of SDM, commented: “We are delighted to have acquired TMS and are pleased to be welcoming Phil and his customers on board. The acquisition now makes SDM the number one supplier of software to housing organisations in New South Wales and a leading supplier in Australia.”

He added: “This is all happening at a time of strong government support for community housing providers in New South Wales, where they currently provide affordable rented homes to some 29,000 low income households.

“On top of this, the drive for more efficient and cost effective housing management systems is being supported by the NSW Federation of Housing Associations which has established a $1million IT Implementation Fund for community housing providers, so we’re particularly keen to talk to organisations wishing to take advantage of this before the 30th April 2013 deadline.”
